Pranna, the innovative music producer, appeared on the South Asian music scene in 2015 and has been dropping hit after hit with his fusion style. His latest album is titled “New Era,” a collaboration with singer Amar Sandhu. Three years in the making, the album has a diverse collection of tracks showcasing Pranna’s ear for producing across genres. Since it’s release in October 2015, listeners have been raving about this new age of Urban Desi fusion music. Singles such as “Double Addi” and “Rooftop Party” have racked up more than 11 million views themselves, contributing to Pranna’s total count of over 40 million plays worldwide.
A Philadelphia native, Pranna takes pride in his American heritage, and he draws inspiration from the blend of cultures and sounds it has to offer. Over the years, his musical taste has evolved by studying reggaeton, rap, trap, house, and dubstep. That influence is seen with the blend of elements in PRANNA's music, from rhythmic dhols and acoustic guitars to heavy bass and massive synths.
A self-taught producer, Pranna has also worked with artists such as Mickey Singh, FatehDOE, UpsideDown, Zeshan, and Kay V Singh, whom all are developing a new niche when it comes to South Asian music. Pranna’s music flows flawlessly with this sound, but it could just as easily be featured in American mainstream dance or hip-hop hits. Part of his creative vision is to transcend cultural boundaries, which is why much of his work features vocals in both English and Punjabi, often interchanging between the two languages.
Through the power of social media, Pranna makes it a point to connect with fans whenever he can. His YouTube channel features videos that give fans a behind-the-scenes look at his life on tour and his creative process in the studio. Pranna’s favorite part of touring and performing, aside from the energy on stage, is getting the chance to meet people from all walks of life. Being this receptive, he encourages everyone to approach him at a show and share their thoughts on his music.
With a full-length album now under his belt, Pranna is dedicated to further crafting his artistic vision, constantly fusing genres, delivering vocals, and traveling across North America as part of the New Era Tour. He plans to branch out into different markets and bring diversity to more mainstream music. Whatever the case, Pranna will keep pushing the boundaries of what the world considers “traditional” music.
